Covid-19

The Morakot Standard: Our commitment to the highest level of safety

Our community is our family—and family takes care of each other. So when we sat down to put new safety measures in place, we went beyond the guidelines.

See the details of our new plan, but keep in mind this is just a start. We have a few more upgrades in the works, and as we learn more, we’ll be constantly fine-tuning and updating this page with the latest—so you can always check back here.

We’ve always been dedicated to the cleanliness of our gym and the health and safety of our community. Now we’re taking it to an even higher level.

Gym updates as of 25th May 2021

  • Group Classes. No changes to capacity and timing of scheduled classes.
  • Face Coverings and masks. Masks or face coverings are required to be worn while in common areas of the gym and must be worn when not undertaking physical exercise —unless noted otherwise. Please bring your own, as we will not be supplying these.
  • Spectators. Spectators limited to one parent, guardian or carer only, where the child requires parental supervision.

No Change.

The Morakot Standard of sport and safety.

The safety of our community has always been our top priority, and we’re even more focused on it now. To set the tone for our industry, we’ve made changes to how we operate—all designed to keep our students, staff, and trainers safe. Here are all the changes you can expect:

Our Heightened Deep-Cleaning Process

Top-grade disinfectant & more frequent cleaning.

Staff will use a disinfectant proven to kill viruses like COVID-19 in all common areas before and after check-ins—with a heightened attention to pads, bags, and all high-touch surfaces after every class. We’ll also be cleaning the gym from top to bottom twice as often per week.

Disinfecting high-touch surfaces.

After every class, we’ll disinfect doorknobs, handles, rails, light switches, sanitizing stations, bathrooms, sinks, toilets, benches, the front desk, keyboards, computers, phones, and trainer equipment.

Mats disinfected.

After every class, training mats in the gym will be thoroughly disinfected—even if not in use.

All bags disinfected.

After every class, all bags will be thoroughly disinfected—even if not in use.

All focus-mitts, kick shields and Thai pads disinfected & rotated.

Pads will be rotated so that they’re never worn two classes in a row.

Before You Train

Staff health check.

Every staff member and trainer will have their temperature checked before their shift. When necessary, we’ll follow our elevated temperature protocol.

Student health check.

Where mandated by local or state governments, we’ll check the temperature of students as they enter the gym.

Pre-booking.

Before coming in to the gym, you must book your class time. You’ll be able to do this in the Morakot app. To make this process easier, we encourage all students to book their class with their own account.

Staff hospitality and safety.

Your gym staff is here to help, from a safe distance. We’ve put a protocol in place that limits staff from leaving the front desk, aside from gym cleaning. When absolutely necessary, staff will (safely) assist students with equipment.

Own equipment.

Students must have their own equipment prior to class starting, there will be no shared equipment. Must include – towel, gloves, hand wraps and face mask. Checked on arrival.

Cancel classes by the deadline.

To allow as many students as possible to book a class, we’ll be strictly enforcing our cancellation policy—please remember to cancel 4 hours before class.

Hand sanitizer.

More sanitizer stations with a higher alcohol concentration. We’ll have one station at the reception entrance, and one by the gym door. In the meantime, we’ll have hand sanitizer available in the gym as usual.

Checking In

Digital check in.

Our new, hands-free process lets you check yourself in right in our app. Be sure to have the latest iOS or Android update before you start class, and check in up to 30mins before class starts. At this time, we won’t allow entry beyond the start of class.

Social distancing practices.

Our staff will work to get students in and out of the gym, while maintaining social distancing practices. To help, floor markers will indicate a safe distance in the reception and training area. We ask that you avoid waiting for class in these high-traffic areas, and consider waiting outside or in your car if you’re comfortable and weather permits it.

Face Coverings and masks.

Masks or face coverings are required to be worn while in common areas of the gym and must be worn when not undertaking physical exercise —unless noted otherwise. Please bring your own, as we will not be supplying these.

Spectators.
Spectators limited to one parent, guardian or carer only, where the child requires parental supervision.

Emergency water fountain use only.

We strongly urge you to bring your own water or purchase water from the gym.

Before Your Class

Keep left.

Keep to the left when entering and exiting the gym.

Sanitizing wipes.

We will continue to provide sanitizing wipes at the entrance to our gym for you to use.

Students train at a safe distance.

You’ll see many markers on the mats, but most will be empty to maintain social distancing practices. To keep yourself and other students safe, please use your assigned equipment only.

Own equipment.

Students must have their own gloves, wraps and towel for use during a class, there will be no shared equipment.

Late entries.

Once the gym door closes and class starts, we won’t be able to let students in.

End of session thank you’.

To uphold social distancing practices, we won’t be shaking hands and high fiving. Don’t worry: We have other plans in store.

After Your Class

Group Classes.

We ask that you kindly clear the training area by following staff instructions to allow for 15min class change over.

The gym shop.

Our retail collection will still be available, but we ask that you avoid touching items as much as possible. If you’d like to make a purchase, please stand on the floor marker when waiting in line.

Retail returns.

We won’t be allowing students to try items on before buying, but will still accept returns. If a student does return an item, we won’t put it back on the floor until deemed safe by apparel industry standards.

Student Responsibility: Keeping each other safe.

We’ve put a lot of changes in place—with details beyond what you see here. The way our new safety process will be most effective is if we all make sure to do our part in it. (Good thing Morakot people are the best people.)

Aside from respecting the safety guidelines put in place by our governments, we ask that any student coming to a gym walks in with the approach our Morakot Fam takes for most things: Go above and beyond for each other.

Please make sure to practice social distancing when in close, shared spaces in equipment areas and bathrooms. Follow the markers placed around the gym to maintain a safe distance.

If you have a cough, fever, or symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come to the gym until you’re symptom-free and fever-free for three days.

If you have tested positive for COVID-19, or have knowingly come into close contact with someone who has, we ask that you do not come to the gym for 14 days or until you’ve tested negative for COVID-19.

If you feel unwell or have any concerns about coming in to train, please stay home and stay safe. We’ll happily add the class back to your account, and welcome you back on the mats when you’re healthy and feel comfortable coming back to train.

We’re encouraging students and staff to limit person-to-person contact, including hugs & high fives. Community and love is in our DNA—but right now, this is the best way to take care of our Morakot Fam.

It might be a bit overwhelming at first. But trust us: As soon as that first class starts, you’ll find yourself in that familiar place you know and love. That sanctuary you’ve been needing now more than ever is even safer now—and we can’t wait to welcome you back.

Moving forward, we’re continuing to monitor the situation.

While we’re taking every precaution to keep our community safe (and encourage you to do the same), we’re acutely aware of and highly prepared for the possibility of outbreaks.

In the event that there is a reported case of COVID-19 in the gym and you were potentially in contact with the individual, you’ll be notified immediately. From there, we’ll take the proper safety precautions to disinfect the gym from top to bottom.

With no way to predict what will happen, the best way we can prepare is to respond and evolve as the situation develops—with nothing but your safety in mind.

Whether you plan to join us in the gym, or feel more comfortable staying home, we’re here for you. If you have questions or concerns, let’s talk it out at [email protected].
